BC Earthquake Alliance
Our Partnership
BCAA and BCEA have a longstanding history, having participated in ShakeOut for over 10 years and sponsoring ShakeOut since 2018. In recent years our partnership has focused on areas of shared value, aiming to provide more British Columbians with earthquake and other natural disaster preparedness support particularly for underserved and underrepresented individuals and communities in its early stages.
The partnership directly supports a BCEA pilot project that has been building relationships with not-for-profit organizations to better understand how to develop resources and expand access to educational materials for a more diverse and underserved audience.
Already making an impact, this pilot program is a foundational step to being able to engage, educate and prepare all British Columbians for an earthquake and tsunami.
About BC Earthquake Alliance
Founded in 2010, the BC Earthquake Alliance (BCEA) is a not-for-profit organization that works to create a culture of earthquake and tsunami preparedness through building year-round education and awareness, and through their pinnacle event, the Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
ShakeOut is a province wide earthquake drill that encourages over 600,000 British Columbians to practice what to do in the event of an earthquake – “Drop, Cover and Hold On”.
Already making an impact, this pilot program is a foundational step to being able to engage, educate and prepare all British Columbians for an earthquake and tsunami.
