Since 2021, BCAA has partnered with FireSmart BC to help educate British Columbians on wildfire preparedness and increasing access to their resources for those who live in remote, rural and most at-risk communities.

But as wildfires become more frequent and intense in British Columbia, we want to do even more to increase wildfire resilience across all parts of the province. That's why we're investing $750,000 into wildfire preparedness and prevention with FireSmart BC.

The BCAA FireSmart initiative will focus on the growth and success of FireSmart's Home Partners Program, where property owners can request a FREE home assessment with property-specific actions they can take to help reduce their wildfire risk – plus be eligible for a discount on BCAA Home Insurance*.

Three key areas will be addressed by this initiative to help tackle different barriers on a community’s roadmap to wildfire preparedness:

Increase proactive, educational outreach to at risk, remote and under supported communities by fire prevention experts to help them stand up and sustain FireSmart BC programs.

Home Updates
Resource Development

Develop and distribute educational resources for community leaders exploring FireSmart BC programming for their communities.

Community Grant

Provide financial support to homeowners for FireSmart BC home-focused fire resiliency solutions/programs.
